Basic Skincare Routines to Boost Health, Better Skin and Immunity

Have you thought about your skin as an organ?

One of the basic skincare routines for either men or women has so many benefits not just to our body but our mental health.  Our skin is the largest organ of the body and actually is also our first level of defense. It covers 21sq feet and weights about 9lbs it has 11 miles of blood vessels and it has many functions that include
• First line of defense against bacteria, viruses, infections• Practically waterproof• Regulating the body temperature – using our sweat glands to cool us and when we are cold our blood vessels in the skin become tighter and limit the amount of blood reaching the skin preventing heat loss, our pores get smaller also to help retain heat.

As our skin is the most important organ of the body, we need to ensure that we are treating it right so be aware that it only takes 26 seconds for anything put on the skin to enter the bloodstream. So, do you know what is in your products you use daily? Look at the app Think Dirty which is an independent app that gives you a great guide on what is in your products.

Shedding
The skin naturally sheds about 50,000 cells every minute which goes toward the regeneration of the skin itself which is about every 28 days. Most cells are slough off from clothing and moving etc but some stay on the skin and a exfoliation is used to help the process.  The first products to consider therefore are

Body Smooth – This uses Sea salts (the exfoliant) and Lemon Myrtle (this oil has antibacterial properties and help to deeply cleanse and purify the skin)

Face Smooth – this is a gentle polish that will give a fresh, clean complexion that uses bamboo silica beads that are also known as ‘bamboo tears’ which combined with ground rice creates a fine exfoliating product. The added ingredient includes Elderberry extract which is a powerful antioxidant containing Vitamin A, C, and E to regenerate your skin making it glow from within and look younger. As the face is more sensitive to the rest of the body, we must use something that is gentler. This process should be done 2/3 times a week.

After exfoliating the body, we must now replenish the skin with moisture. Tropic has two creams to use for this
Body Love – A firming buttercream that has nourishing cocoa and shea butter keep the skin hydrated, pink peppercorn and hibiscus which both help firm and tone the skin.
